Emergency and Temporary Accommodation
Our Families Project service is available across Midlothian Council. The service provides emergency and temporary accommodation to families affected by homelessness.
The service consists of two apartment complexes comprising 14 self-contained flats.
Our Families Project in Midlothian is available to anyone in Midlothian. Referrals are made via the Council’s housing team. People accessing the service may have experienced relationship breakdown and trauma, domestic abuse, can have acute mental health needs and/or require support with their substance use.
The service is designed around trauma-informed practice, and the staff team works to harm reduction principles.
The service usually works with people Monday to Friday; however, Families Project is flexible to an individual’s circumstances.
We have a staff team of 2 who work to support the families living at the Project.
Our team works hard to maximise independence and to support community engagement. The team will work with partner agencies regularly, and will support the completion of onward referrals, as well as support with access to Education, Employment or Training, and in completing welfare applications where required. The team communicates daily with the housing team at Midlothian Council.
Accessing Families Project is via Midlothian Council’s housing team.
