A Brief Introduction to 29 St Andrews Street

It is specifically tailored to meet the needs of young people aged 16-25 who are experiencing homelessness. 

The service consists of a main house with eight bedrooms, and communal space for young people to spend time together and with staff. The service is conveniently located in the heart of Dalkeith, close to transport connections.  

The service receives referrals from Midlothian Council.

Who We Support

29 St Andrews Street works with young people aged 16 – 25. The service can support people who have a range of complex needs. Many residents have experienced relationship breakdown and trauma, and some are care-experienced. 

The service is designed around trauma-informed practice, and the staff team works to harm reduction principles. 

The service has staffing 24/7 to ensure that young people receive support whenever they need it.

What’s it like at 29 St Andrews Street

Our staff team is led day to day by a Senior Support Worker. We have a staff team of seven who work a variety of shifts to provide care and support 24/7 throughout the week.

29 St Andrews Street is a quieter service, with young people accessing a range of community resources. The young people staying at 29 St Andrews Street are at different stages in their journey to independent living, and all require different levels and kinds of support. This variety makes 29 St Andrews Street an engaging place to stay and work.

Our team works hard to maximise independence and to support community engagement. Many young people attend college or training, and some are in employment. The service works with different stakeholders, such as throughcare and aftercare, social work, college and training providers to ensure young people receive the right kind of support.
