Individuals, Families and Carers: what to expect

Working closely with individuals, their families and carers to provide the best support

At Care Support Scotland, we enable the people we support to live their best lives. We do this by providing expert services that help vulnerable people to live as independently as possible.

We live by our organisational values. We treat everyone with respect and compassion, and encourage them to thrive.

If someone in your family – or someone else you care for – has been referred to Care Support Scotland, you’re probably wondering what we’re all about.

Learning disability & neurodiversity

Supporting people with a diverse range of learning disability and neurodiversity needs to live independently.

Homelessness prevention & housing support

Working with people to move through and on from their experience of homelessness.

Older age care

Supporting older people in Edinburgh and the Lothians to live a full and fulfilling life.

All of our services are designed to suit a wide range of needs. We support some people for just a few hours a week, while others get 24/7 care. We can provide waking night and sleepover support, too.

Areas covered

We offer our services across four local authority areas in Central Scotland:

  • Edinburgh City
  • Midlothian
  • West Lothian
  • East Lothian.

Our services in each area are different. Speak to your social worker or other local authority contact to find out more, or get in touch using the link at the bottom of the page.

Impact

The impact we make is about more than numbers. It’s about helping vulnerable people to enjoy life as independently as possible.

In 2022 we helped, on average, 1,219 people across our three service areas. Our support staff put in an average of 5,700 hours to do this.

Standards

We’re passionate about offering a high level of care. We truly believe we have the best staff, who always go above and beyond. They’re all registered with the Scottish Social Services Council and are members of Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) schemes. We ensure that they’re well-trained, too. Our service staff have minimum SVQ qualifications, and we empower them to continue their education.
