Whether you’re starting your career in care or want to move on up, at Care Support Scotland we can support you with your career goals.
One of our core values is ‘thrive’ – and that applies to our staff as well as our support workers. We’re passionate about bringing out the best in people.
You don’t need to have previous experience in care to work with us. It’s our goal to help everyone to reach their full potential, whatever their background is.
College leavers
You’ve got your qualifications, now it’s time to get the experience. Care Support Scotland is the perfect place to kickstart your career in care. We take development seriously and are always looking for opportunities to help our staff make a step up.
If you join us as a support worker, it can take a few years to become a Senior Support Worker. Along the way you’ll get all of the training and experience you need to become an expert.
We do have minimum qualification requirements for some roles. Depending on what you’re doing, we ask for a minimum of level three or four of the Social Services and Healthcare SVQ. If you don’t yet have the relevant qualifications, we can help you to get them.
Learning and development opportunities
We’re committed to helping our people earn the qualifications that they need to thrive in their career. If you’re coming to us unqualified, we’ll pay for your Social Services and Healthcare SVQ from West Lothian College.
What you practice
Working in care is very hands on. If you’re working towards your SVQ, we can help you to get the right practical experience to support your qualification. As well as helping our staff to get the minimum SVQ required with their roles we can also help them with further learning. We can discuss ways for you to gain the relevant experience to give you the best chance of passing your modules and assessments. Whatever you want to achieve in your career, we want to help you to meet your goals.
Becoming a specialist
Throughout your career you’ll get the training that you need to become an expert in your chosen area. We have three core services at Care Support Scotland – homelessness prevention & housing support, learning disability & neurodiversity and older age care. As well as the standard training that all of our staff receive, each service has its own unique training plan. As well as making sure our service users get the expert care that they deserve, it also means our staff get the chance to become true specialists.
